TGD-100 Ultrasonic thickness gauge from Starr Instruments is an excellent general use tester for non-destructive thickness measurement, with added features to ensure great value.

The TDG-100 measures the thickness of solid composition materials using the pulse echo method. Such materials include;

Metals

Glass

Plastic

Rubber (most types)

and more.

The thickness is determined by using the sound velocity of a material. Conversely using a known thickness you can determine the sound velocity of a material.

The gauge features self calibration with the integrated 4mm calibration block located on the front of the unit.

A step Wedge block is also available for purchase separately for additional reference testing and lab certification.

PROBE OPTIONS:

Standard Probe

The 5MHz 10mm right angle probe is the standard supplied probe transducer and this is recommended for most applications. If you have a non standard application the purchase of an additional probe can provide a solution.

Mini Probe

If requiring to measure curved surfaces with a diameter of at least 15mm the mini probe will assist. The smaller surface area of the probe allows for better coupling with the curved material being measured. This probe is also suitable for measuring thinner materials.

2MHz

The 2MHz probe is best suited for applications requiring high penetration. With a lower frequency and longer wavelength it is used to get readings on thicker samples and high attenuating material such as HDPE etc.

High Temperature

The high temperature probe consists a standard 5MHz transducer wrapped in a thick teflon grip designed for safe, comfortable use whilst testing materials up to a temperature of to 300°C such as boilers and process pipework.
