The Starr Instruments TGX-01 is a Portable Ultrasonic Thickness Gauge used to determine the thicknesses of metal, plastic and many other common materials. This is done in a non-destructive way via the use of an ultrasonic pulse.

The TGX-01 has the capability to measure the thickness of solid composition materials that have a regular grain structure, of which an ultrasonic signal can be transmitted through. 

This is done using the pulse-echo method with a twin crystal probe (transducer).

Some testable materials include:

- Metals (steels, aluminium, copper, cast iron and more)

- Plastics (HDPE, LDPE, PVC)

- Glass

- Rubbers (most types)

* Please note that this tester is NOT recommended for testing epoxy water-proofing membrane thickness.
