More info

The HTR-1000i from Starr Instruemnts is an integrated portable hardness tester that is suitable for tough working environments such as workshops, testing laboratories and out in the field.

This tester is versatile and can be used on a range of materials including steel, cast steel, stainless steel, aluminium, brass, iron and copper.  Testing can be carried out at different angles (including upside down), by changing the test direction in the settings.

The HTR-1000i uses the leeb rebound method and the results can be converted to results in other scales such as Vickers and Rockwell with the results automatically displayed on the screen.  The rebound method works by firing a spring loaded indenter, which is made of tungsten carbide, and firing it against a surface and measuring the rebound.  The higher the rebound, the harder the surface.

Hardness testing is generally used in metallurgy to understand the properties of a metal as to how it might perform being used for its purpose.  Hardness testing can also be used for quality control to check that goods manufactured meet design and technical standards.  Portable hardness testers are convenient to be used on site or in the workshop for fast, accurate analysis of materials. For high accuracy in results, hardness testing can be done in a lab with bench mounted hardness testers.

FEATURES:

  • • Portable one hand use
Scale conversion (to Brinell, Vickers, Rockwell and more)
